Dr Imtiaz Ali Kalyar is a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist with 16 years of interventional cardiology experience and over 9 years at full consultant level across NHS Trusts in the United Kingdom. He qualified MBBS from Liaquat Medical College, Pakistan, and subsequently trained in Ireland and the UK, obtaining MRCP (London) and Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians, London (FRCP). He holds dual Specialist Registration with the Irish Medical Council and the UK General Medical Council.
He completed his Advanced Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth — one of the UK's highest-volume cardiac centres — followed by consultant posts at East Sussex NHS Trust (Conquest Hospital, Hastings) and William Harvey Hospital, Ashford. He has personally performed 1,459 percutaneous coronary interventions (PCIs) as first operator, including 406 Primary PCIs, and is an independent operator in CTO, Rotational Atherectomy, Intravascular Lithotripsy (IVL), IVUS, FFR, iFR and OCT.
Dr Kalyar served as Principal Investigator for the SENIOR-RITA Trial, published in the New England Journal of Medicine in September 2024, as well as the BLADE and DUAL ACS Trials. In private practice, he provides expert outpatient assessment for chest pain, hypertension, arrhythmia, palpitations, heart failure and cardiovascular risk, working in close collaboration with Dr Kazmi's endocrinology service for patients with combined cardiometabolic conditions.
From fellowship training at one of the UK's highest-volume cardiac centres to private consultant practice in Ireland, Dr Kalyar brings over 16 years of hands-on interventional cardiology experience to every patient.
He currently runs private consultant cardiology clinics in Naas, Co. Kildare, with a special interest in complex coronary intervention and cardiometabolic risk management.
Dr Kalyar's research has been published in the world's leading medical journal.
Comprehensive outpatient cardiac assessment and management — from common conditions to complex coronary disease. Every consultation is conducted personally by Dr Kalyar. This clinic does not provide emergency cardiac care.
Structured evaluation of chest pain including history, examination, resting ECG and further investigation as clinically indicated. Differentiation of cardiac from non-cardiac causes.
Diagnosis, optimisation and long-term management of hypertension — including resistant hypertension, secondary hypertension assessment and end-organ damage evaluation.
Assessment of palpitations, irregular pulse and documented arrhythmia using ECG, 24-hour or 48-hour Holter monitoring, and clinical evaluation.
Outpatient assessment and management of heart failure with reduced or preserved ejection fraction — including symptoms review, medication optimisation and monitoring of cardiac function.
Comprehensive cardiovascular risk assessment and management for patients with elevated risk factors — including lipid management, lifestyle intervention and primary or secondary prevention strategies.
Access to a range of outpatient cardiac investigations to inform diagnosis and management — including ECG, Holter monitoring, echocardiography and specialist referral for imaging where required.
Follow-up care for patients after percutaneous coronary intervention or acute coronary syndrome — medication review, risk factor management and liaison with interventional cardiology centres as needed.
Outpatient assessment of known or suspected structural heart disease, including valve conditions identified on echocardiography or auscultation, with structured monitoring and tertiary referral where appropriate.
